“Jake did an amazing job right from the start. As a first-time buyer moving from out of state, Jake’s knowledge of the market in general and the Milwaukee area itself was extremely helpful. He took time to familiarize both myself and my parents (who live in Chicago and played a big role in this process) with the Milwaukee area. Early on I had requested to see some listings outside of Milwaukee and Jake readily showed me these properties, but let me know in advance that based on what I had said I wanted that these properties were not likely to be the right fit for me and would feel too far from the city for my lifestyle–he could not have been more right!! Jake said from the beginning that he would always be very honest with me and his honesty proved very helpful and put my mind at ease throughout this process–even with small things like pointing out the higher or lower end features of a home that might produce additional costs down the road. I never had to check-in with Jake (nor worried that I should), because he was always keeping me in the loop and was quick to respond to any questions I had.
Inventory was very limited and listings that matched my search criteria were not staying on the market for long. After a few showings that didn’t feel “right,” there was a period where it felt like nothing new was hitting the market, Jake was able to quell my fears that we might never find anything or that I’d need to “settle” for something/adjust my “wish list.” When a new listing popped up that I was interested in seeing, Jake was able to schedule a showing right away and we were able to submit an offer; the offer we submitted was one of 7 or 8 offers (about 2 days after the listing was posted). Jake walked me through the process step by step, was frequently working to communicate with the seller’s agent and myself, and provided me with updates as soon as he had any news. Jake communicated the facts of the situation (i.e. the market, how many other offers there were, etc), but never pressured me to make an offer I was not comfortable with and assured me that we would find another place if for whatever reason this one did not workout. Well, Jake deserves an award for negotiation skills and creativity/thinking on his toes; despite not being the highest offer, Jake worked with me to put forward an offer that ultimately “won.” He made a point of communicating to the seller’s agent why my offer was a better deal for the seller, despite not being the highest. Jake made what could easily have been a very overwhelming situation surprisingly stress-free. I cannot emphasize enough how much he worked with me through every step of the process–he even attended the inspection with my parents, which I could not be present for, and my parents continue to tell me how great he is/was.
As a former Realtor myself, I can attest that not all agents have the knowledge and skills that Jake has, nor do they make their clients feel that they are invested in the process and the professional partnership the way that he does. Even after closing, Jake has replied to my inquiries about various services, providing me with specific individuals that he recommends.
