Downtown Milwaukee is a booming metropolitan area. This city has a population of around 600,000 and it is easy to see why so many people want to live here. Downtown Milwaukee has the energy of a big city but is very manageable to navigate due to its relatively small footprint.

Downtown Milwaukee Lifestyle

Because of the great nightlife and diversity, Milwaukee has been voted one of the top 100 cities for young professionals in the United States. Highlights include cozy coffee shops, easily accessed green spaces, trendy bars, and gourmet restaurants.

However, the population of Downtown Milwaukee includes more than just young, working professionals. Many families choose to settle in this area as well. The city’s holiday events and other cultural celebrations are great for adults and children of all ages. As Baby Boomers enter their retirement years, many are choosing to sell their suburban homes and relocate to
downtown condos.

Sports fans will not want to miss the Milwaukee Bucks. We are lucky to have one of the best teams in the NBA, playing in their beautiful new stadium, the Fiserv Forum Sports and Entertainment Complex. The neighborhood surrounding the Forum is called the Deer District. Not only is the Deer District Milwaukee’s premiere location for sports and entertainment, it is also Milwaukee’s newest neighborhood – a neighborhood built for Milwaukee to live, work & play.

Milwaukee’s beaches are another popular draw. While Wisconsin is considered a landlocked state, it does include miles of Lake Michigan’s coastline. This section of the Great Lake’s coast, known as Bradford Beach, is always packed during the summer months.

Residents and visitors flock to this freshwater beach to swim, relax, and play beach volleyball. After a morning of swimming, stop by The Dock at Bradford Beach for a quick lunch of sandwiches, salads, and wraps. Cool off with a soda or an ice-cold beer.

While you are at the beach, keep your eyes peeled for the area’s 224 species of birds, including migratory shorebirds and other types of waterfowl. The lake is a popular spot for experienced birdwatchers and curious newbies that want to take pictures or just enjoy the wildlife.

Downtown Milwaukee is easy to navigate. Public transportation includes The Hop, Milwaukee’s streetcar system, and the Milwaukee County Transit System, Milwaukee’s bus line. There is also plenty of public parking in and around the city. Wide sidewalks make it easy to safely reach your final destination.
